If you're experiencing the problem where one side of your hoverboard
works but the other side doesn't that is one of the best problems to
have. Reason being if both sides of the hoverboard aren't working it can
be a number of problems. It could be a bad gyroscope, it could be a bad
motherboard, it could be a wheel motor.
When only one
side of the board is working however we can be fairly certain the
motherboard isn't the problem. It could potentially be a wheel motor,
however in my experience those rarely go out so the most likely culprite
and really only other potential problem is that you have a bad
gyroscope.
At this point you need to figure out if you
have a male gyroscope or a female gyroscope. There is a small number of
boards which don't have a motherboard and have two gyroscopes which act
as the motherboard as well. These boards aren't very common and the red
color of the gyros is a dead giveaway you have this type of board.
As
far as figuring out if you have male or female gyroscopes is if your
gyroscope has two receiving ports and one wire harness leaving the board
then you have a male gyroscope and need to replace it with a male
gyroscope. If your board has 3 or 4 receiving ports and no wire harness
leaving it you then have a female gyroscope. Male gyroscopes are the
most common but you definatley want to open up your board and check
before you order the wrong piece.
Below we'll show you a picture of what the various types of gyroscopes look like....
