Hoverboard Parts - Where To Buy Them

Where to buy Hoverboard Parts?

Is your hoverboard acting up? Maybe it's got a flashing red light. Maybe your wheels won't spin, or maybe you're hoverboard rides around on it's own like a maniac when your not even standing on it. There are a couple easy fixes which don't require any parts to fix such as calibrating a hoverboard or fixing an air pocket in a hoverboard.

Many other fixes however require you buy parts to fix your board. The most common part on a hoverboard to go bad seems to be either the gyroscopes, or sometimes the charging port, not because they go bad, but because people often trip over their board when charging, or jam in the plug the wrong way, so more user error. These parts typically cost about $15 for a replacement charging port and about $25 to $50 for a hoverboard gyroscope

Some people are unlucky and get a scooter with a dud of a battery and those often require a battery replacement. I've seen batteries as low as say $50 on eBay, however I think for a quality battery you should expect to spend between $80 and $100 on a hoverboard battery.

The motherboards aren't that likely to go bad, though they do. Typically a bad motherboard is indicated by a flashing red or orange light on the power indicator lights on the middle of the board. A motherboard will typically run about $59, however you can often buy entire parts kits including motherboards, gyroscopes, and lights. This can often be had for about $80 and is probably the best bargain as it's always handy to have spare gyroscopes lying around.

If your looking for where to buy parts to fix your hoverboard checkout Amazon.Com. You can read reviews on both sellers and parts and be sure to get quality parts from a quality seller.

Best of lucking in your attempts to fix your hoverboard.

Fix Hoverboards As A Side Hustle

Fix Hoverboards

If you own a hoverboard chances are you've had to fix your hoverboard at one point or another. Hoverboards are both easy and challenging to fix and repair.

Self Balancing Scooters are somewhat challenging to fix in that there is no one type of hoverboard nor is there any repair guide that tells you how to diagnose problems or how to fix your hoverboard.

Fortunately however they are pretty simple devices, there's only a handful of parts in there. You have the motherboard, gyroscopes, battery, and wheel motors and that's about it, there's only so many parts that can go wrong with a hoverboard.

One of the most common fixes for a hoverboard is the need to recalibate it. This is a fairly easy fix and requires no parts. That is typically the first thing you will want to try to do before spending money on parts to fix your board.

If calibrating it isn't the solution the next most common issue is probably a bad gyroscope, which again fortunately is an easy fix.

Make Money Fixing Hoverboards

The point here is if you've gotten pretty handy at diagnosing problems on your own hoverboard and fixing your own hoverboard why not turn it into a nice little side hustle, put some ads up on Craigslist and Offer Up and start a little hoverboard repair business. Most fixes are fairly easy and many repair guys charge a flat $150 fee regardless of the problem while some charge even more. I've personally charged as much as $250 for a motherboard and two gyroscope replacement job off of Craigslist.

There's some good money in repairing hoverboards. Check your local cities craigslist and offer up and see if there's already competition or if it's wide open  for you to start placing ads and making money.

One Side of Hoverboard Not Moving / Working - How to Fix

If you're experiencing the problem where one side of your hoverboard works but the other side doesn't that is one of the best problems to have. Reason being if both sides of the hoverboard aren't working it can be a number of problems. It could be a bad gyroscope, it could be a bad motherboard, it could be a wheel motor.

When only one side of the board is working however we can be fairly certain the motherboard isn't the problem. It could potentially be a wheel motor, however in my experience those rarely go out so the most likely culprite and really only other potential problem is that you have a bad gyroscope.

At this point you need to figure out if you have a male gyroscope or a female gyroscope. There is a small number of boards which don't have a motherboard and have two gyroscopes which act as the motherboard as well. These boards aren't very common and the red color of the gyros is a dead giveaway you have this type of board.

As far as figuring out if you have male or female gyroscopes is if your gyroscope has two receiving ports and one wire harness leaving the board then you have a male gyroscope and need to replace it with a male gyroscope. If your board has 3 or 4 receiving ports and no wire harness leaving it you then have a female gyroscope. Male gyroscopes are the most common but you definatley want to open up your board and check before you order the wrong piece.

Below we'll show you a picture of what the various types of gyroscopes look like....

If you need a gyroscope to fix or repair a hoverboard self balancing scooter Amazon is a great place to begin your shopping. Ali Express may be slightly cheaper but you'll wait about 3 weeks or more for your part to arrive. I'm sure you or your children aren't patient enough to wait for that so Amazon makes a great place to buy your replacement hoverboard parts, even better if you have prime as you can have them with 2 day shipping for free. How To Fix A Vibrating or Shaking Hoverboard

How To Fix A Broken Hoverboard - Vibrating

Does your self balance scooter vibrate when you stop on or off of it? Does your Hoverboard move on it's own or ride in circles with no rider on it? Your problem could be an air pocket under your foot pad.

Rest easy, it's a fairly simple fix. By making a slice or poking a hole in your foot pad you can get rid of the air pocket and your board should resume working normally.

So here's how to fix it. Look at the picture below. On the side of the footpad closest to the wheel, not the side near the center of the board, make a slice or cut a chunk out of the footpad. You will want to do this as we mentioned, on the side closest to the wheel dead center in the middle of the pad at the area shown in the pic. This will let out the air and your board should stop vibrating and should stop riding on it's own.

If this fails to solve your problem the next likely culprate is a bad gyroscope.
